These photographs are about taking someone on the kind of journey that I experience and literally making an eyeball-to-eyeball connection. I start off by answering the question, “Why do I care about taking these photographs?” It’s because I want to show the power of looking someone in the eye, feeling their humanity and letting them feel yours.

It turns out that with both photography and philanthropy the closer you get the better the result. These three images are close ups of children looking at me. I am so close to them that I can clearly see my reflection in their eyes, allowing you to see what they are seeing.
